Raf Rundell – ‘Luxury’ Trevor Jackson Reproduction.

Raf Rundell’s original version of ‘Luxury’ was itself a slight detour for South London’s jauntiest singer. Utilising the talents of Warrington’s Men & The Echo, the vocal was pure early ’80s synth-pop, so arch you could almost smell the Max Factor. With that in mind, it should be no surprise that Heavenly called on the talents of Trevor Jackson, the man behind Playgroup and The Underdog, as well as a noted designer. Jackson’s connoisseurship of the ‘80s electronic greats drives his remix, as he channels Martin Rushent with a version that has its feet in the first flush of Brit-electro as well as right now. Think the rambunctious joy of Human League’s version of ‘Rock’N’Roll’, with some modern dancefloor power. A luxuriant triumph.
