Of The Night – An Underdog Production

Nocturnal, Sombre & Psychedelic Underdog Productions recorded between 1994-98. First released as an edition of 50 cassettes available at the summer London Independent Label Market in 2018, These tracks were originally created by Trevor Jackson under his Underdog moniker during his phase as remixer to the stars (U2, Massive Attack, Run DMC, Unkle etc..) whilst working on plans for a song based Underdog solo album project.

Eight tracks of subtereanean instrumental hip hop & hazy post rock it’s influences draw as much from The Velvet Underground & Mazzy Star as it does Wu-Tang & Cypress Hill. Left untouched for decades, this collection of raw demos takes its place as release number five on Jacksons archive unreleased Pre-Recordings label and is an important reminder of his open minded approach to production at the time, a testiment to his eternal search for obscure
source material and a sign of what could of been if he’d concentrated on releasing his own music rather than focusing on multiple remixes and running his seminal Output Recordings Label (Home to Four Tet & LCD Soundsystem).
